2/5 Cav was a part of Operation Comanche Falls in northern Quang Tri Province, just south of the DMZ. It began on September 9th and was intended to destroy battalions of the 812th NVA Regiment and the 814 NVA (K-14) Battalion.
September 11
C 2/5 Cav , along with D Company, were OPCON to the 2nd Brigade, and were part of a four battalion combat assault into the southeast part of Base Area 101. Once on the ground, they moved north in an attempt to squeeze the NVA against a blocking force composed of other 1st Cav and ARVN units. There was no significant contact.
