Summary 1967
Binh Dinh Province, Bong Son, An Khe - The Crescent - Dam Tra O: These are familiar place names for C 2/5 Cav troopers. Most of the year was spent in or near Bong Son, the infamous home of Viet Cong who had controlled the area on the coast since the French War of 1946-1954. March marked the Battle of Phu Ninh in which C 2/5 Cav suffered its heaviest losses of any single battle of the entire war. That action also resulted in the battalion being awarded the Valorous Unit Award.
